“You are in my church where I am your God, and you are my equal. I’m not a jail, little mouse, I am your sanctuary.”

Many of my friends have probably already read this book and I am late to the party, however... I'm going to give my review anyways. This is the second HD Carlton book I've read, my first being "Does It Hurt?" Which... meh. Anyways.

I will be honest and say that I tried to read this book a few months ago and just didn't get into it. However, the second time around it had me from the beginning. Maybe I just wasn't in the right head space yet.

I'll list the trigger warnings further down for those who want to read them (at least the ones I picked up however they are listed in the book as well.)

“Let me know which stars you prefer. The ones above you, or the ones I make you see.”

Ratings:
Overall: 4.5 (maybe even a 5... I don't know this book is just all over for me.)
Spice: 3/5 (while not as many scenes as some books some of these scenes are very graphic/dark)

The Thoughts:

We start off with meeting Adeline, obviously. A writer and pretty much just an average girl who moves into a family home. When she starts realizing she has a stalker....well, that is where things get interesting.

Zade, a stalker at night but only for Adeline and yet tackles child trafficking and sex trafficking rings by day. So the savior of women and children with stalkerish tendencies? Don't forget he's amazingly handsome with a *member* bigger than everyone else.

Now, this sounds like I'm being sarcastic and don't like the book... quite the opposite. I LOVED Zade's POV chapters. I loved the sense of humor behind them even if I know I shouldn't have. I think those are what kept me reading because sometimes I would literally laugh out loud at the crazy things the man said that I loved.

Adi constantly tries to deny her attraction for him, because who loves a stalker right? Meanwhile... here's Z every time she says leave me alone.

I really enjoyed this book and the writing style. There is so much spice you might even find yourself blushing, especially listening to the audio. I did both during the reading of this book. The audiobook is absolutely amazing by the way!

This is the first book in The Cat & Mouse Duet and what a damn cliffhanger it left me on. Honestly, the words WTF left my mouth as I was walking through the house getting some coffee.... because that ending is serious.

If you enjoy stalker romances and/or dark romances just go read this!
